Secretary Social Welfare, Women Development and Baitul Mal Tariq Feroze has said that special attention is being paid for the betterment of children as the process of implementation of departmental policies for social development in the province is continued.
He was addressing at Children Mela organised by Social Welfare Department in collaboration with UNICEF and local NGOs Smile Foundation and Face Foundation at Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Auditorium of Faisalabad Arts Council here on Thursday. The Secretary appreciated the arrangements of the function and said that such activities would help creating confidence in the children. He urged that the programmes for the entertainment and development of children should be continued and Social Welfare Department would extend every possible co-operation in this regard.
He also announced the grant of Rs 50,000 for the organisers of the Children Mela. DCO Saeed Wahlah thanked the Secretary Social Welfare for attending the function as the chief guest and admired the performance of the children in tableaus and other skits presented during the function.
Earlier, Mian Fiaz of Smile Foundation highlighted the importance and objectives of organising Children Mela and thanked the Secretary Social Welfare, DCO and UNICEF for their co-operation in organising this event successfully. The Secretary and DCO distributed shields among the management of private schools and students who showed best performance. They visited various stalls at the exhibition and appreciated the skills and abilities of the students in making different handicrafts.
