ActionAid will implement European Commission funded project on food security to enhance productive capacities and promote sustainable agricultural practices among 8000 small scale farmers in 8 food deficient districts namely Toba Tek Singh, Bahawalnagar, Tunsa Sharif (Punjab), Dadu, Nawabshah, Sanghar (Sindh) and Sibbi, Mastung (Balochistan).
In all these districts, ActionAid will work with local organisations to implement the project and reach out to the poor farmers. The 22-month project worth over 1.3 million Euros is expected to benefit some 8000 small scale farmers, two farmer networks; Pakistan Kissan Ittehaad (PKI) and Sustainable Agriculture Action Group (SAAG) as well as local government departments. The project will focus on promoting sustainable bio-diverse agricultural practices enhancing productive capacities and enabling direct access to the markets for small-scale farmers affected by food deficiency.-PR
