Seven students got injured as a result of firing between the two opponent groups in Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB) here on Friday. As per details, the exchange of fire was openly observed between the opponent groups in the hostel area of the IUB. Seven students received serious injuries during the exchange of fire.
Heavy police constabulary was immediately called in the university premises that took over the control and brought the tense situation to normal. The injured were immediately shifted to Bahawal Victoria Hospital where the condition of some of the students is reported to be critical. Police evacuated all the hostels of the university and university administration has closed the campus till February 24. Police troops are still deployed in the university to keep the situation under control.
