The Lahore High Court here on Monday disposed of a suo motu case initiated Samanabad police for manhandling a lady lawyer and her family members by Samanabad police. Earlier, SSP Operations Lahore, Shafiq Gujjar informed the court that two police officials, inspector Ijaz Ahmad Dhillon and ASI Muhammad Akram, involved in the manhandling had been sent on judicial remand following registration of a FIR.
He said both the officials were also suspended and show-cause notices had also been served on them under Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability (PEEDA) Act 2006. The SSP assured the court that the investigation of the case will be conduct purely on merit, without any influence, and challan against the accused cops will filed within 14 days.
Relying on the statement the court disposed of the suo motu case. LHC Chief Justice Khawaja Muhammad Sharif had taken suo motu notice on request of lawyers during a function held by Punjab Bar Council in connection with Eid Miladun Nabi. According to details, Incharge investigation Samanabad police Ijaz Ahmad Dhillon and other police officials had trespassed into the house of Mohsina Akhtar advocate and took her two brothers to police station.
They kept them in illegal detention despite the fact that the both detainees were already granted pre arrest bail from a court of law. Later a bailiff appointed by district and session judge Lahore raided at the police station and recovered both detainees whose arrest was not mentioned police record.
