Habib Metropolitan Bank (HMB) has announced a final cash dividend for the year 2009 at Re. 1.00 per share, ie, 10 percent. The board of directors of the bank, in its meeting held here on Tuesday also recommended to issue bonus shares in the proportion of 16 shares for every 100 shares held, ie, 16 per cent.
The board approved the audited accounts and declared that the bank's after tax profit has declined to Rs 2.739 billion in the year ended December 31, 2009 as compared to Rs 3.292 billion earned in the corresponding period in 2008. The bank's earning per share stood at Rs 3.64 in the period under review against Rs 4.37 in the same period a year back. The bank's profit before taxation decreased to Rs 4.213 billion in 2009 against Rs 4.763 billion in 2008.
