The Small & Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda) has launched initiative for promotion of least developed traditional clusters of North-West Frontier Province (NWFP). In this connection, Smeda, NWFP chapter, held a one-day workshop on 'Cluster Development and Business Opportunities in NWFP' at IMSciences Hayatabad.
Smeda Manager Rashid Aman, Manager Legal, Mohammad Amir, Director IMSciences, Dr Mohsin Khan and incharge of Enterpreneurship Development Centre, IMSciences, Romi Sajjad, members of faculty and large number of students attended the workshop. The purpose of the workshop was creating awareness among students on the least developed traditional clusters of NWFP and trade opportunities for them in the sector.
Smeda Manager said that trade of chappal, kaddhar manufacturing in Charsadda, food and leather products in Bannu), handicrafts, furniture (Peshawar), dates (D I Khan), agricultural products (Mardan), honey (Karak), embroidery (Haripur) could earn more profits for the people.
Dr Mohsin termed the entrepreneurship development centre at the institute an effective source of knowledge for students. He said that the centre would help provide research opportunities for students on different least developed clusters. He appreciated the services and efforts of the incharge of the centre Romi Sajjad in this regard. Romi briefed the participants on the research and business activities of the centre, saying that such workshops for creation of awareness among students would continue in future, too.
