Punjab University Institute of Quality and Technology Management (IQTM) in collaboration with American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME) organised a seminar on 'Industrial Engineering - Local and Global Perspective. Industrial engineers from well-reputed companies of Pakistan, including Descon Engineering, Honda Cars, Millat Equipment Ltd, Nestle, Ibrahim Fibers, Varioline Intercool and Adamjee Insurance participated in the seminar.
The participants shared their professional experiences in the field of industrial engineering. They informed the audiences that industrial engineers are playing a pivotal role in areas like production planning control, projects, inventory control, cost reduction, maintenance management and quality assurance. Director IQTM Dr Aamir Ijaz, in his speech, stressed the importance of the event in achieving the goal of bridging the gap between industries and academics.
He specifically mentioned that this event was one of the efforts of IQTM to achieve this goal. The seminar was highly appreciated by the professionals from the different industries, faculty members and students of IQTM. While Four students of the Punjab University College of Art & Design (PUCAD) have won all the first prizes in Photography in the 3rd All Pakistan Mediafest, held from February 24 to 28 last, at 10 GIKI Media Club, Ghulam Ishaq Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, Topi, District Swabi, NWFP province.
The names of the winners are Sikandar Hayat, Shahbakht Sherwani, Arsalan Peerzada and Husnain Mehmood. All of them were awarded certificates while Husnain Mehmood was given a shield, as well. In addition, another student of the College Miraj Muhammad has secured first position in Conceptual Art Painting Competition organised by the FAST University Islamabad on February 12-16 last.
