The Lahore High Court (LHC), while suspending the termination order of Punjab University professor Dr Muhammad Salim issued notice to Vice chancellor for March 31. The petitioner professor through his counsel contended that he was appointed in Botany department through a transparent process in Grade-21 and his performance was up to mark. Later he received a letter from university administration on February 28 that his services were no more required.
He was neither issued any show cause notice nor any opportunity of hearing was afforded to him. He said head of department had nourished grudge against him and wrote adverse remarks in his Annual Confidential Report (ACR), alleging that he had violated rules and regulations. He, therefore, prayed to the court to set aside his termination orders.
