The National Assembly members belonging to various districts met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif here on Friday and apprised him of the ongoing development programmes and the problems of the people of their respective areas.
Talking to the Assembly Members, the Chief Minister said the government is taking solid measures for overcoming poverty and unemployment while besides development of the industrial sector, small industries are also being promoted.
"Elimination of ignorance is essential for the development of the country, therefore the government is attaching top priority for uplift of the education sector and in addition to vocational education, due attention is also been paid to promotion of information technology for equipping the youth with the latest knowledge," he elaborated.
The CM said after setting up of IT labs in more than 4000 schools of the province, extension of this programme to middle school level is being considered. Also, setting up of low-cost housing schemes and allotment of 5-marla plots free of cost in the rural areas will provide relief to the shelter-less people, he hoped. The steps taken for infrastructure development will also leave a far-reaching impact on the progress of the province.
The Assembly members appreciated the measures taken by the Chief Minister for the development of the province and uplift of backward areas and said these would help raise the living standard and provision of basic amenities to the rural masses. Those who met the Chief Minister included Member National Assembly Mudassar Qayyum Nahra, Dr Mukhtar Ahmed Bhart, Rai Farooq Umer Khan Kharl and Yaqoob Nadeem Sethi.
