The palm oil and soybean oil imports into the country during the first seven months of the current fiscal year witnessed negative growth of 17.42 percent and 71.43 percent, respectively as compared to the imports of the corresponding period of last year.
Palm oil imports into the country during July-January (2009-10) were recorded at $673.079 million, as compared to the imports of $815.101 million recorded last year, according to data provided by Federal Bureau of Statistics. Palm oil imports during January witnessed nominal decrease of 0.19 percent, as compared to the imports of January 2009.
The oil imports during January 2010 were recorded at $100.712 million, as against the imports of $92.999 million. However, as compared to the imports of $100.902 million recorded during January 2009, the palm oil imports during January 2010 were increased by 8.29 percent, the figures revealed.
