Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that a comprehensive strategy has been adopted for the provision of basic facilities to the people and rapid development of the province, moreover, the government is paying special attention for the development of far-flung and backward areas.
He said that work on development projects under Annual Development Program (ADP) was being carried out speedily and living standard of people would improve after completion of these projects. He was presiding over a high level meeting held to review the implementation of ADP at Chief Minister's Secretariat, here Saturday.
Senator Ishaq Dar, Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary, Chairman Planning & Development and Secretary Finance attended the meeting. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that Punjab Government had ensured timely and transparent completion of development projects and now plundering and embezzlement in development funds had become part of the history.
Every penny of the people was being spent on their welfare and third party audit system had been made compulsory for all big development projects, he added. He said that not only best travelling facilities would be available to the people due to improvement of infrastructure in the province but industrial and trade activities would also be promoted.
He said that financial discipline had been adopted by reducing non-development expenditure and funds obtaining through reduction in non-development expenditure were being spent on the welfare of the people. He said that special attention was being given on the generation of additional resources for the development projects so that these resources could be utilised on elimination of poverty, ignorance, unemployment and provision of better facilities to the people.
He said that special attention was also being paid for improvement of education, health, infrastructure, and agriculture and livestock sectors in the annual development programme. He said unprecedented welfare programmes were going on successfully for bringing the deprived segments of the province into mainstream and thousands of people were benefiting from them. The meeting also reviewed in detail implementation on various developments projects under ADP and utilisation of funds.
