Mohmand Agency schools' rehabilitation: Japan inks CAMP deal to provide financial support

Japan has signed an agreement with Community Appraisal and Motivation Programme (CAMP), a non-governmental organisation, to provide financial support of 92,003 dollar for the rehabilitation of schools and small infrastructure in Mohmand Agency.
According to a statement issued here on Monday, the Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan Chihiro Atsumi and Naveed Ahmad Shinwari, Chief Executive of CAMP signed the agreement. The grant will be utilised for the restoration of 20 village schools in Mohmand Agency along with the construction of sewage disposal plants.
At present, village schools in those areas are decrepit for use, but have not been restored due to financial constraints. Moreover, most of their sewage disposal is un-hygienic for lack of toilets. Through this project, it is expected that educational environment and sanitary conditions for about 2,200 students in the areas will be improved.
Through this project, it is also expected to increase new enrolment in these schools, furthermore, the project will also help develop the infrastructure, such as water supply system, drainage ditch, etc in the villages. As a result, it is expected that overall living and sanitary condition for about 20,000 residents in those areas will be improved.
