Economic uplift, political stability of region: Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan should evolve joint strategy: Saifullah
President Pakistan Muslim League PML-Q like-minded Group Salim Saifullah Khan has urged the leadership of Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan to evolve a joint strategy for the economic uplift and political stability of the region. While talking to media here on Thursday, he said that only co-operation among these countries would ensure regional peace and eliminate foreign intervention.
Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan have a rich history of brotherly ties and people of this region cannot be divided, Saifullah added. Welcoming Afghan President Hamid Karzai, Saifullah said the brotherly countries should get rid of suspicion and rather identify their common enemy who is exploiting the situation to widen the gulf of qualms among all the three brotherly nations.
"It is necessary for us to have unanimous voice if we want an end to the foreign meddling in our internal affairs. I hope that the visit of President Ahmedenijad to Kabul and President Karzai to Islamabad would have positive results for the people of the three countries," he said adding that only military option would not succeed in Afghan war rather dialogue should be given a chance. He said that a PML delegation would soon visit Afghanistan and Iran to look for new avenues as only wide ranging relations in trade, culture, economy and industry was the only way forward.
Lauding the role of the armed forces in bringing peace to the region, Saifullah said the Armed forces of Pakistan were the "angel of peace" and this was the main reason that Pakistani military officials had a lion's share in the United Nations Peacekeeping Missions around the globe.
