The federal government has decided to release funds to Sindh government for the federally-funded projects after detailed presentation by the concerned administrative department regarding the projects, it is reliably learnt. According to sources, the decision was taken at a meeting recently, which was presided over by Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani.
Now, each department would give a detailed presentation to the federal government after which the release of funds would be made, they said. The condition of the presentation only applies on those projects, of which 50 percent of total cost is being funded by the federal government that is aimed at ensuring smooth release of funds and proper implementation of the development schemes, they added.
Recently, the Prime Minister's Secretariat has informed that a brief presentation on every federally funded project, which is being executed by Sindh government would be held shortly at the Prime Minister's Secretariat, Islamabad with the Prime Minister in the chair.
"It is to inform you that there is one project namely development of infrastructure in the industrial area to be matched by the Government of Sindh and Government of Pakistan on 50:50 basis. It is requested to kindly prepare a presentation for each project and submit to this department latest by March 12, 2010 positively", the letter forwarded to Sindh government said.
The federal government particularly the Ministry of Industries and Production (MoIP) was giving priority to the industries sector to improve the economic situation of the country, they said, adding that special measures were being taken by the Centre in this regard. Sources said that the federal government would release further funds after detailed presentation by the concerned quarters. The Sindh government has directed the Industries and Commerce Department to prepare the presentation containing funds release position by both the federal and provincial governments, they added.
