A collection of visually stunning and harmoniously conceived compositions of floral art works titled, 'Floral Symphony', by Soraya Sikander's was displayed at Unicorn Gallery recently. Through her paintings, she captured the magnificence of the floral kingdom. Taking inspiration from nature, she painted a wide variety of roses, lilies, carnation, gladiolas, hydrangea and baby's breath.
Soraya's paintings are very appealing. She expresse through her paintings how she felt about the current situation and issues faced by the common people in the country.
While talking, she explained the pinching affects of the current issues of terrorism, and decided to paint her feelings. "Now-a-days artists are portraying gloomy picture of the society through their canvases, which is spreading more depression and creates a despairing atmosphere. People want to get out of such melancholy and live a normal life. Keeping all this in mind, I decided to take moral support from nature. As this is spring time, I take the opportunity and use flower power to convey the message of peace and harmony, love and care."
The exhibition provides a fascinating opportunity to the viewers to have glimpses of charming colours and beauty of spring season. The spring and seasonal flowers of numerous types were portrayed in her works. She has put the flowers from the garden on the canvas.
The flowers were placed in the forms of bouquet, lonely, bunch, beds and clusters to enhance the love for natural beauty that attract people to forget their problems for a time being and refresh.
The importance of flowers cannot be described in words, rather it can well be felt by the nature-lovers and is also increases the interest of the nature among those who remain estranged from such environment.
The exhibition shows an effort to take refuge from a desperate environment. She tried to replace terrorism that fills the air now-a-days with the spring colours and beauty. She wants to divert attention from miserable moments to healthy and light moments. She invites viewers to capture pleasurable feelings from her canvases. She grew these flowers herself in her garden and then captures their moments of blooming and growing into flowers on her canvas, thus a new refreshing experience.
Her works give hope and benevolence to the people in the days ahead. One can admire a solitary rose, a leaf, a tree beaming with sunlight casting its shade on green velvety grass - scenery from the vast grandeur of the eternal, nature. She tried to capture Mother Nature's bits and pieces in her refreshing canvases. The floral symphony can be felt in her paintings with various colour schemes - a symphony of blues, greens, yellow, reds, purple and whites.
Some of her paintings are devoid of colours in black and white, indicating the phenomena of wilting due to unfavourable conditions. Here, she points towards terrorism, which has engulfed our normal happy lives. Everybody living in terror what will face next? Will we die in a terrorist attack or a loved one will leave us weeping behind.
Flowers are a beautiful gift of nature that has been cultivated in our memories for the time immemorial. The vast range of colours of flowers is amazing. The beautiful colours appear on her canvas like a softness of silk, having their own language to communicate with the people and environment around.
Viewers love the sensuous paintings by Soraya. She uses the art of painting to create awareness among the masses. Give a ray of hope - a positive sign, which we badly need. She deals with current issues her selection of theme is timely as before when she did a series of paintings title 'recession'.
She has a good sense of composition and concentrate on her work. The serious theme of the exhibition shows how much she is involved with the current issues. Her work depicts how she feels about the present situation. Exorbitant floral expressions with vibrant, lively and intense colours attract people to stay for a while and sooth their mind and soul and also admire artist efforts, somewhat awry and tousled Soraya's floral symphony emitting a lovely feeling.
Flower in vase arrangements, white flowers with small patels and daisies are most pleasurable. The soft and subtle colouring is pervasive to eliminate lines. The huge bunch of different flowers that she paints create a saturation and profusion of colour, that is lavish and over powering. [email protected]
