Customs duty collection increased by 3 percent during eight months of current fiscal year as compared to the corresponding period of last year. According to the statistics of Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) of PaCCS, the department collected Rs 32.57 billion customs duty, against Rs 31.57 billion in the corresponding period of last year.
MCC collected Rs 40.49 billion, Rs 12.56 billion, Rs 1.06 billion and Rs 1.33 billion on account of sales tax, advanced income tax, federal excise duty (FED) and regulatory duty, depicting 15 percent, 79 percent, 15 percent and 29 percent growth, respectively.
Exports value, in terms of rupees, showed 11 percent growth as compared to last year's collection of Rs 437.14 billion, mainly because of currency instability. Similarly, value of the imports went up by 4 percent to Rs 477.97 billion during eight months of the current fiscal year as compared to last year's Rs 459.34 billion.
Of total imports value of Rs 477.97 billion, Rs 333.422 billion came from dutiable imports, while remaining Rs 144.55 billion imports were declared as duty-free imports, showing 13 percent increase as compared to Rs 128.094 billion of last corresponding period.
The import GD count and export GD count stood at Rs 125.177 billion and Rs 125.89 billion respectively, showing some 14 percent and 13 percent growth respectively as compared to last year. Negative trend was witnessed in special FED and anti-dumping duty, dropping by 10 percent and 24 percent, respectively.
