The Supreme Court on Monday (today) will resume hearing in a number of identical writs over the issue of appointment of AJK Chief Justice.
A three-member bench comprising of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Ch. Ijaz Ahmed and Justice Khalil ur Rehman Ramday will take up the constitutional petitions filed under Article 184 of the Constitution by Justice Syed Manzoor Hussain Gillani, Justice Sardar Mohamad Nawaz, Jammu and Kashmir Council for Human Rights, Tabassam Sadiq advocate and 16 others.
On last hearing, the bench had allowed the Attorney General for Pakistan to seek instructions from the Prime Minister, also Chairman of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, over the issue of appointment of AJK Chief Justice. The same bench will also take up various appeals against National Accountability Bureau, habeas corpus and election matters of the provincial assembly.
