The government has declared verification of identity cards of tenants by National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) compulsory for renting out houses. According to an official here on Tuesday, people have been asked not to hand over their houses to tenants until their ID cards are verified by Nadra.
This decision has been taken in the interest of checking the incidents of terrorism in residential areas and safety of life and property of citizens. Meanwhile, Nadra has been directed to provide every possible facility to the people who come to the Nadra offices for verification of ID cards. It may be mentioned that terrorists involved in some recent incidents had rented houses on fake identity cards.
