Sri Lankan High Commissioner Air Chief Marshal Jayalath Weerakkody on Tuesday called on President of PML (Like Minded) Senator Salim Saifullah Khan and discussed the matters of mutual interests. Both the dignitaries discussed in length the long-standing bilateral relations between both the friendly nations.
The regional politico-economic relations also came under discussion. President of PML (Like-minded) Women's Wing Yaqoot Jamil-ur-Rehman was also present. Saifullah said both the countries had excellent bilateral ties.
"Both the countries are facing similar challenges and they had helped each-other on different difficult situations. The Saarc nations should learn from the experiences of European countries and bilateral co-operation in the fields of economy, industry and trade should be enhanced so as the living standard of the peoples of these countries could be improved," he added.
The PML leader also extended formal felicitations from the people of Pakistan to the Sri Lankan people on their successful fight against the menace of terrorism. Responding to the good wishes extended by the PML leader, Jayalath Weerakkody said the Sri Lankan people regarded Pakistanis as their brothers who had always come forward for helping the Sri Lankan people in all difficult conditions. He also formally extended an invitation to the PML leader for visiting his country which was accordingly accepted by Senator Salim Saifullah Khan.
