The Karachi Literature Festival is being organised by the British Council and the Oxford University Press-Pakistan. There is currently a huge interest around the world in writing from Pakistan, established and emerging Pakistani writers have received great attention and critical acclaim internationally, as well as at home.
The Festival, the first of its kind in Pakistan, provides an opportunity to put Pakistan on the map as a country rich in culture and creativity. It will feature talks, panel discussions and readings from renowned authors from Pakistan, UK, US and India.
Writers - including, Mohammad Hanif, (author of "A Case of Exploding Mangoes"), Aamer Hussein ("Insomnia" and "Another Gulmohar Tree"), Mohsin Hamid and Victoria Schofield - will be featured in the Festival. In addition to this, many Urdu authors like Shamsur Rahman Faruqi, Intizar Husain, Zehra Nigah, Iftikhar Arif, Fehmida Riaz and Kishwer Naheed will also be an important part of the event.
The Festival will provide a platform for dialogue between Pakistan and the rest of the world - putting contemporary writing and thought from Pakistan on an international platform, and bringing modern writing from around the world to Pakistani audiences.-PR
