An inspection team of the College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) Led by Professor Tariq Mahmood Khan, Registrar, visited CMH Okara. The inspection team comprising Professor Khalid Masood Gondal, Regional Director, Professor Muhammad Yaqoob Qazi, Professor Saad Bashir Malik, Professor Syeda Batool Mazhar and Dr M. Sharif Hashmani, inspected the facilities regarding the provision of standardised training to postgraduate doctors at CMH, Okara.
A spokesman of CPSP said that the College has laid down a standardised criterion for accrediting institutions and supervisors. The postgraduate trainees can get training in those institutions that fulfil the requirements. Presently, 135 institutions within the country and 90 institutions abroad are providing training in accordance with residency programme.
Around 12000 postgraduate trainees are in different stages of training under 2000 approved supervisors. Due to the standardised training system of CPSP, the prestige of its degree is increasing and it is included in the top seven degrees of the world, the spokesman added.
It may be noted that Professor Zafar Ullah Chaudhry, President, CPSP, in recent meeting with Saudi delegate discussed the details of residency programme, training system, monitoring system, transparent examination system and system of accreditation of institutions. After Saudi Arabia and Nepal, CPSP is planning to establish regional centers in Kuwait, Dubai and Muscat also.
