All trade bodies here, including Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), and people belonging to various walks of life on Wednesday strongly condemned the unscheduled electricity load shedding of continuous even hours as a result of which normal business and daily chores and productivity came to a standstill on Saturday in Sialkot.
Business circles said that it is very difficult to fulfil the international commitments by the business community under the prevailing uncertain power conditions, and the country would face serious economic setback if the situation remained unchanged.
They expressed fear that foreign buyers are already threatening to the exporters for the cancellation of their purchase orders. Keeping in view the alarming situation in Sialkot, which is an export-oriented city and a hub of cottage industry, should be exempted from the load shedding for ensuring smooth and uninterrupted productivity in the area.
