About 5.46 lakh saplings would be planted during spring tree plantation drive in Sialkot district. District Co-ordination Officer (DCO) Mujahid Shar Dil stated this while inaugurating spring tree plantation campaign here on Wednesday.
The DCO disclosed that a strategy has been formulated for converting Sialkot into "Green City" and under the programme plants are being planted along with roadsides for improving the environmental condition.
Mujahid further stated that special steps have also been taken for monitoring the prices of chicken and vegetables by the district administration. During last week profiteers were fined Rs 25 lakh (Rs 2.5million) under price control committees, he disclosed. The DCO said that district administration would not tolerate price hike and efforts would be made to monitor the prices of fruit, vegetable, meat, and chicken to facilitate the consumers in Sialkot, Daska, Pasrur and Sambrial tehsils of the district.
