Commissioner Tahir Hussain has directed the administrators to take strict actions to curb water theft, cattle lifting and make special plans for removal of encroachments, improvement of cleanliness, end to wall chalking, controlling prices of essential commodities and upgrading of sewerage system in their respective jurisdictions.
He also asked them to arrange 3rd party audit system to ensure transparency in utilisation of funds in all ongoing and new developmental schemes. He issued these directions while chairing a meeting of district, towns and tehsil administrators held here on Wednesday at his Committee Room to review the pace of ongoing campaign for encroachment removal and provision of civic services to masses.
The commissioner said that maximum efforts should be put to make this campaign a success so that a visible change could be brought about in the life style of public. He further said that provision of Municipal Services to masses should be top priority of the administrators and no laxity would be tolerated in this regard. He also asked DCOs to pay surprise visits to schools, hospitals and other public service departments to check their working and recommend concrete measures for the improvement of the system.
Furthermore, the commissioner instructed them to conduct inspections of the newly established IT labs in government schools and checked the availability and safety of IT equipment installed there. He also reviewed the performance of revenue officers and checked the record and target of the revenue receipts and other government taxes.
Meanwhile, he asked administrators to follow the instructions given by Punjab government regarding their duties and consult commissioner office or concerned provincial department in case of any kind of ambiguity. Moreover, he asked the town and tehsil administrators to submit a comprehensive progress and report of all ongoing developmental projects so that their proper scrutiny could be done. DCOs Saeed Wahlah, Asad Islam Mahni, Rana Amanullah Khan, ACR Shafqatullah Mushtaq and others were also present in the meeting.
