Justice (r) Javed Iqbal takes charge as NAB’s new chief
ISLAMABAD: Former Justice Javed Iqbal on Wednesday assumed charge as the new chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) amid pledges that he would take to all pending cases to their logical end.
Just after assuming the charge, Justice Javed Iqbal, who replaced Qamar Zaman Chaudhry as NAB?s chairman, met the senior officials including director general (operations) and members of the prosecution wing.
He directed the officials to put up before him the details of all pending cases. Later, in a brief chat with media, he said he would complete his previous assignment as the head of the commission on missing persons by submitting the report, which his team had compiled, before leaving his post as the head of the commission. To a query, he said the report will be submitted soon.
He has headed two important commissions- the Abbottabad Commission formed to probe the preludes and causes of the US raid in Abbottabad in 2011 that led to the death of Osama bin Laden and the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances. He is a retired judge of the Supreme Court.
