Islamabad Police on Thursday resorted to baton charge and tear shelling to disperse protestors mainly students who blocked Murree road at Athal Chowk in Bhara Kau police station jurisdiction, the police spokesman said. He said students had been blocking the roads since Thursday morning and police was forced to resort to baton charge and tear shelling to disperse protestors and clear road for general traffic.
Police spokesman said that four reserves of police were deputed in the area to counter any problem. However, a source in the district administration said that negotiations between transporters and other stakeholder failed on Thursday and protestors blocked the roads as a result.
