The Directorate of Registration/Inspection of Private Institutions Sindh (DRIPIS) has issued show-cause notices to the administration of 27 private schools for charging monthly fees up to July 2010. The directorate has also issued notices to the private schools, who are charging exorbitant money from the parents against rules.
Sources told Business Recorder on Thursday, the directorate has issued notices to the management of those private schools, who have failed to comply with rules and regulations. "They have warned to submit compliance report to the directorate in a week time otherwise their registration could be suspended," they added.
DRIPIS has received complaints from the parents of the students of various private schools that the school management is forcing to pay monthly fee of five months, starting from March 01 to August 01, including summer vacation before the start of next academic session 2010-11, otherwise their admission would be cancelled.
Quoting the wordings of a recently issued notification to the management of all private educational institutions "it is notified information of all concerned that the conditions of the registration of the educational institutions shall strictly be adhered to and observed in letter and spirit by all registered institutions.
In this context every institutions is required to charge only approved rate of fee and any deviation and enhancement will be strictly dealt with according to rules. All institutions would henceforth be required to exhibit on school notice board the rate of fee of their institutions duly approved by the competent authority for knowledge of the respective parents.
Moreover the schools are instructed not to charge any other fee under any other head unless approved under rules, including the annual charges and recreation fees. Only admission fee to the extent of three times of one-month tuition fee can be charged at the most, the notification said.
Professor Mansab Siddiqui, Director DRIPIS told Business Recorder that charging five-month fee at the start of new academic year is totally wrong. He confirmed that the directorate has issued show-cause notices to the management of 27 private schools for fleecing guardians of the students.
