It has been reported in a section of press that the deficit in generation is 4500 MW and not 3021 MW as released by Pepco on 17.03.2010. It is stated that the figure of shortfall provided by Pepco is correct. It is further reported that the hydel generation given by Pepco as 1332 MW on 17.03.2010 has been disputed by Wapda.
It is clarified that Wapda quoted that 2500 MW was the peak generation but the figure of 1332 MW hydel generation as announced by Pepco is average Hydel generation. It is pertinent to mention that Hydel generation during 24 hrs ranged between 916 and 2412 MW.
The production of IPPs jumped from 4910 MW to 5535 MW for the reason that three new IPPs were contributing test generation in the national grid besides improvement in generation of old IPPs. As regards load management by Lesco, it is categorically stated that the load management carried out by Lesco on 16.03.2010 was 665 MW and not 850 MW, as given in the media. Pepco bears responsibility to the data released to the press, which is based on facts and figures.
