Futures open interest down by 5.7 percent

The open interest at the futures counter declined by 5.7 percent on week-on-week basis to Rs 2.1 billion. The futures spreads were going in the same direction by 21.7pps to stand at 22.83 percent, on account of suppressed sentiment at the futures counter, analysts said. Trading activity at the futures counter decreased by a significant 42 percent to the level of 4.6 million shares.
The top 5 scrips AICL, PTC, POL, MCB and OGDC cumulatively contributed 69 percent to the total open interest during the week.
