People belonging to various walks of life, including businessmen and students have expressed deep concern over the poor performance of Wapda and demanded resignation of Federal Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervaiz Ashraf voluntarily for rendering pitiable services.
They alleged that the minister and other concerned high-ups were trying to hoodwink the consumers through their statements whereas the ground realities were entirely different and practically nothing had been done for overcoming the electricity crisis.
They said that the industrial sector was being adversely affected, as the productivity had become standstill in and around to Sialkot due to the unscheduled and frequent loadshedding.
They further stated that it is a vivid fact that government was making sincere efforts for the development of industrial sector and for bringing a big boom in the exports of the country. On the other hand some anti-government lobbies were making their hard for sabotaging the government's efforts and it seems that Wapda is a major player in this regard.
The business community had made their utmost efforts for bringing big boost in export activities, but, unfortunately, the Wapda was totally failed in providing the sufficient electricity to the business community necessary to achieve fixed target of exports. They alleged that Wapda had become a "White Elephant" and the government should take immediate steps for saying good-bye to Wapda and save the skin of the masses.
They also called upon the government to take prompt steps for the construction of big dams like Kalabagh dam for overcoming the severe power crisis. The unscheduled loadshedding has created unrest among the students as well. They suggested that that government should take practical steps for introducing alternative sources of energy like "Solar Energy" system for curtailing the problems.
The introduction of solar system would enable the people in obtaining cheap electricity and the government should involve private sector in producing low cost power through solar system, they demanded.
