Inspector General National Highways & Motorway Police, Dr Wasim Kauser has said that the NH&MP is allowing the entry of heavy bikes to run on motorways from 23rd March 2010. In this respect, a special ceremony will be held on 23rd of March 2010 at Ravi Toll Plaza on motorway and the members of Bikers Club will also be invited in the ceremony.
He sated this while speaking at the tree plantation campaign and affixing of promotional badge ceremony of newly promoted senior patrolling officers and at training institute Shaikhpura. The DIG M-2 Dr Muhammad Shafique, A/DIG N-5 Central Muhammad Ali Nekokara, SSP Nissar Ahmad Saroya, and SSP Inam Waheed were also were also present on the occasion.
Dr Wasim kauser said the members of the bikers club would travel from Lahore to Islamabad as a gesture to celebrate Pakistan Day and enhance solidarity among the nation. The Federal Minister for Communications Dr Arbab Alamgir Khan would be the Chief Guest and Minister of State for Interior and Minister of State for Information would be the guest of honour. Dr Wasim further said that the motorbike of 500 cc and above would be allowed to run on motorway with special kit worn by the biker. The biker would first get registration with NH&MP and then he would be given a permit to allow running on motorway. The Bikers Club is allowing this permission to heavy bikers on persistent requests. This would run as a Pilot Project, said by Dr Wasim Kausar.
The IG, NH&MP also planted a tree on motorway to run the tree plantation campaign. The NH&MP would itself plant hundred trees on motorways & on highways. Dr Wasim Kausar said that there is a grave shortage of trees in the country; therefore, there is a dire need of the country to plant trees. He said that it is the responsibility of every citizen to plant a tree in its vicinity.
