Federal Minister for Interior Rehman Malik on Thursday said the nation will hear a good news in a few days, as the government is all set to table the constitutional package in the Parliament. "The government is very close to building consensus on the constitutional package and President Zardari will announce it in his address to the joint sitting of the Parliament," the minister said.
While talking to media after he appeared in the Accountability Court regarding the hearing in two corruption references. Malik said the documents of the 18th Amendment would be presented before the Parliament for final nod to repeal the amendments made by a military dictator. The constitutional reforms committee has finalised its proposals on the package, he added.
He said he believe in across the board accountability for which he appeared in the courts. "I myself drove the car and came to the court without any official protocol," Malik said. He said former Ehtesab Bureau Chairman Saifur Rehman made fake cases against him. The Accountability Court has adjourned the hearing of two corruption references against Rehman till April 15, without any further hearing. The supervising judge of the Accountability Court, Tariq Abbasi ruled that the record of the references was not brought to us from Lahore High Court, therefore, the hearing is adjourned till April 15.
