Former Chairman Senate, Muhammadmian Soomro has advised private sector to play its role to save the country from a possible economic collapse by increasing industrialisation and creating new jobs.
Speaking at a dinner reception hosted by former president Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) S M Muneer in the honour of industrialist Malik Yasin, on his conferment of Sitara-e-Hilal on Thursday, termed the economic condition as disappointing and fears that the country may collapse.
Soomro said that Pakistan's economic conditions are fast declining which is over-burdened due to growing internal and external debts. He lauded the role of Yasin Malik and said that if the country would have a couple of more philanthropists like Malik the country would get rid of poverty.
Sindh's Senior Minister Pir Mazhar ulhaq advised the businessmen to follow the footsteps of Sardar Yasin Malik and help to eliminate poverty from the country. Sindh Minister for Industries, Rauf Siddiqui suggested that the government should give awards to all those businessmen who are keeping their industrial units operative in the present conditions.
Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan advised business community and trade bodies to send budget proposal for the year 2010-11 within next week so that he takes them up in Senate otherwise it may be too late.
Provincial Minister of Information Technology, Raza Haroon appreciated private sector role and said that they carry out many welfare project which should be done by the government. Former Governor Sindh, Lieutenant General (Retd), Moinuddin Hyder praised the services of Yasin Malik and said that he has done remarkable work for betterment of poor segment of the society.
Leader of business community, S M Muneer hailed the Ordinance passed by the government to allow organ transplant and advised the business community to donate their organs in the larger interest of the humanity. He urged the government to reduce interest rates and stop frequent increase in power, gas and oil prices. Mian Zahid Husain said that move of the government to award business leaders with national awards is encouraging and motivating.
