Almost 80 helpless women, recipient of state land in Thatta district, are seeking help from President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah to resolve their post land distribution issues so that they could start cultivation like other beneficiaries.
Talking to local media in Thatta city they said that during their visit to different Talukas of Thatta district, arranged by Participatory Development Imitative (PDI) non-government organisation, they highlighted the multiple post land distribution issues and appealed to the authorities to resolve their genuine issues.
Khutooan Mallah from Jati Taluka village Allah Dino Mallah, mother of three daughters, who was allotted four acres land by Sindh government complained that after allotment of land by government, local groups with the support of influential personality sitting in the government are creating hurdles to get their allotted land. They even threatened to kill us if we (Khutooan family) tried to get our rightful state allotted land, she added. She appealed to the President and PM including Sindh Chief Minister that they should set up a high level committee to resolve their genuine issues of post land distribution issues.
Another woman Adan, 40, mother of four children narrated her story that she got eight acres land in open kutchery and got all the related documents but local influential personality is creating hurdles and she is still deprived to get her allotted land.
She added that local groups supported by influential personality of the district not only opened fire on her but also told other local landlords not to give her wage for labour work on other land.
About 80 women land grantees in Thatta district from various Talukas are being deprived of the granted lands owing post land distribution issues likes identification and distribution of disputed lands and land occupation by the influential people.-PR
