Criticing the government over the recent strategic talks with the United States, Chairman, Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan on Sunday said that US only wanted to use Pakistan Army for safe withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Addressing a press conference following his party's CEC meeting in Islamabad, Imran said that it was strange that US-Pakistan recent discussions revolved only around the US interests and there was nothing new as far as the Pakistan 's interests are concerned.
He said the longstanding issue of Kashmir, Indian water aggression and other issues pertaining to Pakistan's national interests were not touched in the much discussed strategic talks due to lack of courage on part of Pakistani leadership.
He said his party's CEC condemned the government's pathetic attitude towards resolving the public issues, saying that the masses are much perturbed due to the unprecedented inflation, load-shedding, unemployment and deteriorating law and order situation in the country.
He accused the government of creating artificial power crisis to justify installation of Rental Power Plants (RPPs) and to compel the people to accept increase in power tariff.
He warned the government of strong public reaction in case there is any further increase in power tariff from April 1, saying that people are not in a position to bear any more burden.
Imran also condemned the unending trend of target killing in Balochistan and called upon the government to take all possible steps to control the situation.
He accused the ruling parties of rigging the recent by-elections and demanded of the government to hold the elections by using NADRA biometric machines to ensure transparency. He informed the media that his party would approach Election Commission and Supreme Court for this purpose. PTI chief also criticised PML-N for its stance on Constitutionals Reforms Package.
He said judicial commission should make appointment of judges to ensure transparency the system; however, he opposed any intervention of the parliament in the process.
He questioned that why Nawaz Sharif and his party members did not object on certain issues during the more than sixty meetings of committee.
Commenting on the issue of renaming NWFP, the PTI chief said that renaming issue should be resolved through consensus and the decision should be taken in the best interests of the people of the province. He was of the view the view that referendum is the best option to end the controversy over the name of the province.
