The Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, has said that a corruption-free culture has been promoted in the province while plundering of resources and misappropriation of development funds has been completely eliminated. He said that an effective development strategy had been adopted for the provision of basic amenities to the masses and revolutionary public-welfare programmes had been initiated in the province.
He said that Pakistan Muslim League was serving the masses with commitment and dedication as popularity graph of a political party could be taken to new heights through public service.
Addressing workers of Pakistan Muslim League (N), here Sunday, the Chief Minister said that Punjab government was implementing development projects worth billions of rupees for the rapid development of the province and raising the living standard of the masses. He said that low-cost housing schemes were being initiated for providing shelter to the low-income people, while five- marla scheme was also being initiated for the shelter less people of the rural areas.
He said that agriculture was the mainstay of national economy and 70 percent population of the country was associated with this sector. He said that Punjab government had initiated revolutionary projects for the development of agriculture sector and prosperity of farmers. He said that 10,000 tractors were distributed among small farmers last year with a subsidy of Rs two billion while 10,000 more tractors had been given to the cultivators at subsided rates this year as well in a transparent manner. He said that agri-implements at concessionary rates had also been given to the cultivator for the promotion of modern technology in agriculture sector. He said that state land would also be given to land less cultivators and agri-graduates. He said that the steps taken by the government for the uplift of agriculture sector would result in prosperity of farmers and increase in agri production.
He said that huge resources were being spent on the provision of health and education facilities as well as supply of potable water and other basic amenities to the masses as well as infrastructure development in the province and various projects were being implemented speedily for the development of these sectors.
