Pakistan Workers Federation has called upon the government to adopt national self-reliance policy instead of depending upon foreign loans.
PWF has sent proposals to the Prime Minister and Federal Advisor for its incorporation in the Federal Budget 2010-2011 to promote employment opportunities for increasing work force, alleviation of poverty and social justice in the society and control over price hike of essential commodities
PWF Secretary General Khurshid Ahmad has sent a 20 points agenda to the government suggesting adoption of "National Self Reliance" by development of indigenous industries, agriculture and generation of electricity with the use of coal combustion for thermal and hydel power units in the public sector.
He said that the government should promote productivity culture and raise minimum wages of workers to at least Rs 10,000 per month and enhance the pay scale and allowances of government, semi-government and autonomous bodies employees.
Ahmad suggested that the government should also reduce 22 pay scales to 5 and create job opportunities for 1.5 million young labour forces entering the labour market every year,
He further demanded that the government should recover the loans worth billions of rupees granted to the privileged classes and influential people and introduce agrarian reforms for peasants with meagre resources.
