Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the fixtures of National Pentangular One Day Cup from April 17-27, with Kaneria representing Sindh Dolphins. Pakistan chief selector Mohsin Hasan Khan has praised Danish Kaneria's spirit of playing Pakistan domestic One Day tournament instead of county cricket.
"If I get a chance to represent myself in the One-Day event in domestic, I will prove myself that I am also useful for this form of cricket," Danish told Mohsin. Kaneria was expected to be available for Essex for the County Championship, which starts on Friday but the Pakistan's leading wicket-taker opted to delay his arrival by three weeks.
"He himself called me personally and expressed his willingness to play Pentangular cricket," cricdb.com quoted Mohsin as saying. Mohsin applaud Kaneria's decision and appreciated his participation for the eleven-day day/nigh tournament to be held in Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
"I like the spirit by the player [Kaneria] - who delayed his scheduled plan otherwise we all know the difference between out domestic and county cricket but still he preferred his country's event." With the absence of Kaneria from the first five games, Essex got a sever blow in their preparations for the new season as Essex Chief Executive David East express his disappointing. "Danish is, of course, an important member of our side, but we must respect the primacy of the PCB and Danish's wish to be part of this event."
