The top brass of Pakistan Army has reviewed the upcoming War Games Azm-e-Nau III, besides evaluating operational capabilities and readiness of the armed forces to protect the frontiers. "The drill is aimed at achieving excellence in operational preparedness at conceptual level and high degree of swiftness and proficiency at the execution level," said General Ashfaq Parvaiz Kayani, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), here on Wednesday.
He was presiding over the 128th Corps Commanders' Conference held in General Headquarters (GHQ). The conference was part of the monthly meetings of the military high command. The conference was attended by Corps Commanders and Principal Staff Officers of Army. General Kayani termed the upcoming War Games as imperative to check the operational capabilities of the Army. He said that other Armed forces, including Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Air Force would be fully integrated in the Army exercise.
On the other hand, the "High Mark 2010" exercise being carried out by PAF entered its second phase on Wednesday as troops of Pakistan Army joined hands with the PAF to carry out joint drills for the first time in the history of Pakistan.
The conference took a comprehensive overview of the operational readiness of the Army, besides reviewing overall security situation and the fight against militancy in the light of recent wave of bombings in Peshawar and Timergara. General Kayani briefed the corps commanders about the recent Pak-US strategic dialogue. The top military leadership also reviewed the preparations for the War Games starting from April 10.
