Pakistan Pharmacists Association (PPA) Multan chapter has announced to participate in nation-wide protests against an advertisement of Health Ministry published in a national newspaper that allows chemists to apply for the posts of drug inspectors.
According to PPA spokesman, the association rejected the new criteria and demanded correction of the said advertisement otherwise PPA central and its all provincial wings along with PPA Azad Kashmir and PPA Gilgit-Biltistan will stage protests throughout the country. It was injustice to the pharmacists, as the other three fields did not give sufficient knowledge of the drugs, the spokesman said. It was for the first time in 64 years of Pakistani history that government had changed the criteria, according to which MSc Chemistry, MSc Microbiology and MSc Biotechnology were also eligible for the post of drug inspectors along with Pharmacists who previously were only contenders for the posts.
