Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has said that the provincial government has initiated revolutionary welfare projects such as Sasti Roti Scheme for providing relief to the poor and the common man.
Presiding over a meeting regarding the Sasti Roti Scheme here on Sunday he said that the number of Sasti Roti tandoors would be increased and these would be set up in canteens, hospitals, railway stations, bus stands and poor localities for the benefit of poor masses. He said that the scheme had been started for providing relief to the poorest of the poor.
He said that Mohalla Committees comprising five members would monitor 10 tandoors and all Commissioner and District Coordination Officers would be duty bound to send a monthly report regarding the scheme in their respective areas.
He said that Sasti Roti Scheme was a public welfare programme and Commissioners and DCOs should play an active role for the success of the project.
Secretary Industries gave a detailed briefing to the meeting regarding implementation of the decisions taken in the last meeting regarding Sasti Roti Scheme. The CM said that the scheme would be made more effective and transparent. He said that the common man was facing serious problems and such projects were of vital importance for providing them relief.
He said that Mohallah Committees were of key importance for success of the scheme and the process of their formation should be completed by April 20.
He said that in case of any irregularity, not only registration of the tandoor would be cancelled but the concerned Mohallah Committee would also be dissolved while those committees showing better performance would be encouraged.
Provincial Minister for Food Malik Nadeem Kamran, Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah Khan, MPAs, Chief Secretary, Chairman Planning and Development, Secretaries of Industries, Food and Information departments, Commissioner and DCO Lahore as well as other officers concerned also attended the meeting.
