Customers of post offices in twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi have claimed that delay in the delivery of mail, money orders and material has become a permanent feature of Post Customer Services (PCS). They said the concerned authorities should take steps to streamline the services being provided by Pakistan Post.
A student Rahim Ullah said students are concerned about, what he called 'deterioration of customer services provided by the post offices." An official of Pakistan Post, when contacted said that the complaints could be forwarded directly to Complaint Cell Directorate through mails, phones, faxes, emails and/or by other means.
He said that PP, with a network of 12,367 post offices, is the only government entity offering services in the remote areas having its reach to the entire country. He assured that PP is committed to making secure and timely delivery of mail, money and material at the doorsteps of the customers at affordable rates.
He pointed that majority of the population lives in rural areas where regular transaction services are scant.
He said that Pakistan Post has a broad and varied role to play beyond provision of communication links for individuals and businesses.
"Keeping pace with the changing communications market, Pakistan Post is emphasising on the use of new communication and information technologies to move beyond what is traditionally regarded as its core postal business", he said.
He further said that to stay abreast with the technological advancement, Pakistan Post will adopt IT driven approach more vigorously by computerising various operations rapidly. After computerisation, customers will get information, service details and end-to-end disposal of their articles with the 'click of a button'. The official said Pakistan Post remittance services are very popular. These provide a secure and cheap mode for remittance of money.
"Enjoying privilege over collection, conveyance and delivery, Pak Post ensures availability of affordable, reliable and fast communication service to all segments of the society across the country," he concluded.
