The Speaker of the AJK Legislative Assembly, Shah Ghulam Qadir said the ongoing judicial crisis in the State would be resolved in accordance with the constitution and law. Talking to APP the speaker said the acting president of AJK enjoyed the same powers being enjoyed by the president of the state under the interim act of 1974 AJK constitution.
He categorically denied the reports about observance of a minus-one or minus-two formula to resolve the crisis. The speaker declared that only the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) led by the acting CJ, Justice Syed Manzoor-ul-Hassan Gillani enjoyed the legitimate status.
He said how the dysfunctional Chief Justice Riaz Akhtar Chaudhry-led SJC could be described lawful and constitutional since no governmental notification in this regard had been issued. To a question he denied the impression that he had filed the reference against the deposed CJ hastily. "I read word after word and each line of the reference, and after getting assured, forwarded it with the advise of the AJK Prime Minister", he added.
To another question, he replied that the AJK President Raja Zulqarnain Khan was highly respectable for the government and the ruling party. "Zulqarnain is neither tendering resignation from his office nor any impeachment is being moved against him," he declared.
