The Lahore High Court (LHC) here on Tuesday issued notices to the federal government and Wapda authorities for May 5 in response to a petition filed against unscheduled loadshedding and demanded for removal of federal minister for Water and Power Raja Pervaiz Asharf on failure to perform his duty.
Petitioner of bar member Tariq Aziz Malik contended that the government plan for carrying out loadshedding was discriminatory as electricity was being supplied uninterrupted in some "special" area whereas majority of common people were suffering badly due to unscheduled loadshedding. He said that the minister had taken oath under constitution to work for welfare and well being of the people and had miserably failed to abide by the oath. He said that the minister was liable to be removed from his office.
