University of Peshawar (UoP) and Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies signs Memorandum of Understanding for joint research scholars and faculty exchange programme in the field of linguistics. The memorandum was signed by Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar Professor Azmat Hayat Khan with Rector Tashkent Institute of Oriental Studies in Tashkent.
The two institutes under the joint programme are to arrange special trainings, researches and workshops of the faculty and students of both the institutes so as to enhance co operations in understanding and carrying researches in eastern languages especially Urdu, Pashto and Persian.
Rector Tashkent institute of oriental studies, Abdu-ur-Rehman Mananof, who is a learned scholar and wrote several books on Pashto especially Rokhaniat, said that the MoU is a step towards enhancing co-operation between the two institutes as well as the two countries.
The only way to establish good bilateral relations between nation states is to understand and get acquainted with their language which then leads to understanding culture and norms of the locals, and today MoU is a step towards attaining it, he added. Professor Azmat Hayat Khan said that we have very little knowledge about the neighbouring countries especially Central Asian Countries, saying that it's an accepted fact that Central Asia is the future of the world, that's why seeing the importance of these nations we need to strengthen strong relations with them.
He further said that our province and Fata has been regarded as a gateway of Central Asia for trade as most of these countries are landlocked, can play vital role in boosting the countries' economy. Under the MoU, he said that scholars and faculty of Institute of Persian language and literature and centre of Pashto language and literature will be sent under the exchange programme to TSIOS, while teachers and researchers from the same would visit UoP for joint researches on Urdu, Pashto and Persian languages.
VC appreciated the strong cordial relations that University of Peshawar have with institutes in Uzbekistan especially Tashkent institute of oriental studies and said that the joint linguistic research projects and topics carried out by scholars of both the institutes would open new corridors of bilateral co-operations.
