An eight-member Turkish delegation headed by Ismail Hakki called on Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif at Chief Minister's Secretariat, here on Thursday. Members of National Assembly, Pervaiz Malik and Bilal Yaseen, Chairman Task Force Kh. Ahmad Hassan and senior officers were also present on the occasion. The Chief Minister said that Turkey was a brotherly Islamic country of Pakistan and both the countries had centuries old historic and cultural ties.
He said that co-operation of Turkey for the development of various sectors in Punjab was a good omen and arrival of a technical team from Turkey in Lahore would be a positive development in this regard. He said that progress and development of Turkey in such a short period was unprecedented. He said that Pakistan could also be put on the road to progress and development by emulating Turkey as a role model. He said that the recent visit of President of Turkey Abdullah Gul to Pakistan had resulted in the beginning of a new chapter of relations between both the countries.
He said that visit of Turk President would further strengthen trade and economic relations between both the countries. He said that a delegation from Punjab would soon visit Istanbul and hold talks with the concerned departments for co-operation in various sectors in Punjab. The delegation included businessmen and experts in solid waste management, public transport and energy sectors.
