Around four million metric ton wheat would be procured during fast approaching wheat procurement campaign in Punjab, sources in Food Department informed Business Recorder here on Thursday. All necessary arrangements have already been finalised for the purchase of wheat while wheat procurement centres had also been set up throughout the province.
The wheat procurement drive will start from April 20th in Sialkot district, sources disclosed. In Sialkot district, over 82,000 metric ton wheat would be procured from the wheat grower at purchase centres. The Food Department has set up nine purchase centres in Sialkot, Saidpur, Sambrial, Daska, Siranwali, Pasrur, Chowinda, Purab Kalair and Kotli Bawa areas of Sialkot district to facilitate the wheat growers. It may be worth mentioning here that wheat was sown over 5.21 lakh acres of land in Sialkot, Daska, Pasrur and Sambrial tehsils of the district.
