Argentinean Ambassador to Pakistan Rudolfo Martin Sevaria has called for strengthening cultural ties between Pakistan and Argentine. He was addressing a book launching ceremony here on Friday. The book, Homboy, written by Hussain Naqvi, was launched, which projects Pakistan culture in prose in the same way as the American culture originated.
The novel was applauded at a reception in the Argentine Embassy, which was attended by galaxies of present and former Ambassadors, Pakistani diplomats and other dignitaries. Argentine Ambassador Rudolfo Martin Sevaria hosted the book launch reception, and looked very pleased at the turn of the guests. He told the gathering that he wanted to build bridges between his country and Pakistan to strengthen ties in a variety of fields.
He said that there is no other better option than to introduce a book of a young and brilliant Pakistani author, adding that such events would promote the cultural ties between the friendly countries, whose history seems to be similar.
The book is about three Pakistanis in New York City embarking on a road trip weeks after 9/11 in search of Shaman, a Gatsbyesque (portrayal of low life in the United States) compatriot, suddenly find themselves in a changed, charged America. It is an immigrant's tale, a mystery, a story of love and loss as well as a unique meditation on Americana and notions of collective identity, said the author.
