Jamaat-i-Islami chief Syed Muanwar Hasan has called for reviewing the country's defence policy and make it according to the national requirements. The present defence policy of the country only serves US interests and the government and the armed forces must review it, he said while addressing the congregation at Mansoora, here on Friday.
He termed the Washington Nuclear Security Summit as an attempt to steal Pakistan's nuclear assets and said it was fortunate that the prime minister had not signed any ill conceived pact. He said the nuclear programmes of India and Israel were a threat to Pakistan and the Muslim world. Therefore, this country should never sign the NPT.
The Jaccobabad Airport, which was of strategic importance with reference to India, Iran and India, was still under US control although it must be retrieved in the larger national interest. Hasan termed the ban on the heads of the Al-Rashid Trust and Al-Akhtar Trust heads and termed it as another proof of US hostility towards Islam.
He said both these institutions were working strictly under the law and the allegation of their contacts with the al Qaeda were baseless. He said these institutions had rendered great services for the refugees and the earthquake affected people and were also imparting quality education to their students, which was not acceptable to the US.
