The Lahore High Court (LHC) here on Friday sought report from Inspector General Police (IGP) Punjab by May 6th in a petition seeking restoration of a withdrawn allowance. The petition was field by the employees of Special Branch including Muhammad Younas and others. They submitted that the Punjab government had given a special allowance equal to 20 percent of the salary to elite force and employees of special branch.
Later, the government withdrew the allowance taking a plea that salaries in both departments were increased significantly. However, the government restored the allowance to elite force following their protest but did not implement the same on Special Branch employees. The petitioners said the act of the government was discriminatory and violation of fundamental rights and therefore asked for the restoration of the withdrawn allowance.
